Help readers choose the right mattress, pillow, bedding, or sleep supplement through honest, thorough, independently verified product coverage. Not to sell you the highest-commission product. Not to write content for search engines instead of humans. Not to recycle manufacturer copy and call it a review.
How we produce content
Product reviews
Every mattress, pillow, topper, and blanket review starts in the MattressNut Lab with physical hands-on testing. We follow our 27-criteria scorecard (see our methodology page). A review is not published until the product has had a minimum 30-night test cycle with multiple testers.
Supplement and health content
Supplements and grounding products get different treatment because the effects are subjective and slow. We follow a minimum 30-night test with Oura or Whoop data for objective measurement, plus subjective daily ratings. Health claims are reviewed by our medical advisor before publication.
Comparison articles
Head-to-head comparisons are only published when we have tested both products under the same conditions. We do not compile comparisons from third-party data alone.
Guides and educational content
Educational content (how to choose a mattress, understanding memory foam, etc.) cites primary sources for factual claims. We fact-check in collaboration with our medical advisor when the content touches health topics.
How our affiliate relationships work
We earn commissions when readers buy mattresses and sleep products through our links. These partnerships do not influence our rankings. Here is how we structure them:
- Commission rates do not change rankings. A product that scores 7/10 in our testing gets a 7/10 rating whether it pays us 5% or 25% commission.
- We can refuse to recommend partner products. If a product fails our testing, we either do not review it or we publish a negative review, regardless of the affiliate relationship.
- We disclose affiliate relationships at the top of every article that contains them, in clear plain language.
- Readers always see our independent score first, before any affiliate buy buttons.
How and when we update reviews
Mattresses change. Manufacturers modify layers, covers, and pricing over time. We revisit every actively-ranked mattress review at least once per year. Updates include:
- Price verification (we update pricing monthly on top-traffic reviews).
- Specification changes (materials, dimensions, warranty terms).
- New long-term data from testers who have been on the product 6+ months.
- Updated rankings when category leaders change.
The date we last tested or updated a review is visible in the byline on every page.
Correction policy
If we get something wrong — a factual error, a test result that does not replicate, a manufacturer change we missed — we correct the review. Corrections that materially affect the conclusion are noted in a visible "Updated" block at the top of the article, not hidden.

Who writes for us
Every article is attributed to a named author with a visible bio and credentials. No anonymous content. Authors are long-term contributors (minimum 6 months of sleep-industry experience before writing for us) or direct in-house staff.
Our medical reviewer for health-relevant content is a licensed chiropractor with 12+ years of clinical practice specializing in posture, spinal alignment, and sleep-related musculoskeletal conditions.
Privacy and reader data
We do not sell reader data. Our affiliate tracking uses industry-standard cookies (verified via third-party networks like Impact, CJ, ShareASale, and direct programs). See our full privacy policy for details on cookies, analytics, and third-party services.
Content we do not cover
- Prescription sleep medications or controlled substances.
- Medical diagnosis or treatment guidance. We report research, but health decisions require a licensed physician.
- Products that fail basic safety checks (uncertified foams, undisclosed flame retardants, known fiberglass risks without clear buyer warning).
