Are you finding the best fiberglass-free mattresses? As much as a mattress intends to provide comfort, it is necessary that it is safe to use. Many brands ensure that their mattresses are long-lasting and relaxing. They make them fire-resistant to prevent any irreparable damage. Many fire retardants pose a significant threat to humans; one such component is fiberglass. It is excellent fire resistant, but you may encounter cough and skin issues if it comes in contact. Layla is a famous bedding brand.
But does Layla's mattress have fiberglass – Let's find out!
Our favorite fiberglass-free mattress for 2026 (#1 rated)
Is Layla's Copper Infused Memory Foam Mattress Fiberglass-Free?
As you check Layla products, you will not find any hints of fiberglass. Layla memory foam mattresses are free from ozone-affecting and toxic chemicals. But are they completely harmless?
Layla's soft mattress cover is made of unique fire-resistant material. It uses a Ventex fire-blocking sleeve made of a very durable material that is a form of fiberglass. The component is within the fabric itself, making it fireproof. Hence Layla's mattress is not fiberglass free.
Why Saatva has Superior Fiberglass-free Mattress Compared to Layla?
Many leading bedding brands use fiberglass as the fire retardant on their mattresses. Layla is one of them. But when we talk about an utterly chemical-free mattress brand, it is Saatva.
They coincide with all the rules of making mattresses. They are fire-resistant without chemical treatments. The goal is achieved using wood pulp and wool as natural flame retardants. The products are sustainable and plant-based, making them safe for use. You get ultimate comfort, high-end quality, and a risk-free mattress from Saatva every time.
What Layla Mattress Use as A Fire Retardant Material In Manufacturing Their Mattress?
Layla mattresses use Ventex fire-blocking sleeves as their fire retardant. It comprises 48% fire-resistant Allesandra and 52% fire-resistant Polyester. The fire retardant element is placed within the fabric without further use of chemicals.
Is The Layla Memory Foam Mattress Safe And Non-Toxic?
The Layla memory foam mattress is made with CertiPUR-US-certified foam. It shows their reliability of being safe and chemical-free. The mattress has a fire barrier that is safe for use and does not emit any toxic fumes or gases. There is no use of PBDEs, TDCPP, or TCEP (" Tris") flame retardants.
The Layla memory foam mattress is a safe and non-toxic option for anyone looking for a good mattress. However, the cover material does contain Ventex for fire blocking, which is fiberglass. Though the compound is within the fabric, it does include a potentially harmful element.
Are Layla Mattresses Made Without Fiberglass?
Layla has always mentioned that their mattresses are free from toxic compounds. However, they have fire-blocking elements in the fabric of the mattress's cover. And the material mentioned is Vertex, which is fiberglass.
Why Do Layla Mattress Manufacturers Use Fiberglass In The Production of Their Mattresses?
Fiberglass is glass that is spun into fiber. It then combines with synthetic polymers, usually rayon, to make them highly fire-resistant. Fiberglass such as Vertex can resist fire up to 1000 degrees Fahrenheit. These qualities make them an excellent choice as fire retardants in various industries.
How Saatva Manufactures Fiberglass-Free Mattresses?
Lawfully, most mattresses must withstand 30 minutes of exposure to an open flame. To meet this standard, mattress companies often use chemical treatments. Fiberglass is one of the most common fire retardants. Too much exposure to fiberglass can result in health issues. Saatva, however, puts your mind to rest.
Saatva uses natural plant-based products, mainly made of wood pulp (check the best selling organic mattresses). They incorporate New Zealand wool as a flame retardant in the mattresses. Both of these fire barriers are non-toxic, chemical-free, and sustainable. You get exclusive mattresses that are flame resistant and, at the same time, eco-friendly.
How to Check If The Layla Mattress Has Fiberglass?
Like many brands, Layla is entitled to list the materials and compounds. They have to list out every element used in constructing their mattresses. If you scroll through their official website, they have clearly stated the use of Vertex as a fire retardant. Vertex is an actual fiberglass compound with 48% Allesandra and 52% polyester.
Can You Remove Fiberglass from A Layla Mattress?
Removing fiberglass from any mattress can be a hazardous and hideous task. If you plan on removing the fiberglass, you will need a lot of protective equipment. The place has to be enclosed, so the tiny fiberglass particles do not spread through the air. But overall, it is best to avoid fiberglass-containing mattresses.
Do Layla Sleep Mattress Have Formaldehyde?
All of the foams used in the Layla mattress are CertiPUR-US certified. They strive to keep the environment clean by avoiding chemicals such as formaldehyde. They protect their users by preventing PBDE flame retardants, VOCs, and heavy metals.
What Mattress Brands Have No Fiberglass in Their Memory Foam bed and Hybrid mattress?
When we talk about sustainable mattress brands, Saatva is a leading one. Mattresses are eminent for their various qualities, but Saatva ticks all the right boxes (check the top rated luxury mattresses). There are a series of mattresses to please every kind of sleeper, and above all, they are fiberglass free.
The brand manufactures it on order, as every mattress is handcrafted. The materials are organic, recycled, and sustainable. Since being eco-friendly is their top priority keeping the mattresses fiberglass free is one of them.
Check out below a couple of Reddit Reviews from Layla users.

I have a Layla hybrid latex mattress (I have had it for a month) and love it. The price was a concern, but it was worth it. I like the firmer side of the mattress, though I was worried it would be firm enough to my liking. Eventually, I overlooked the reviews that mentioned that the firm side is plush and went for it. And I cannot mention how relieved I was to get the correct firmness. As for the soft side, it is pretty cushiony, but I am happy with my firm one. Overall it is a great bed, made to order, and I highly recommend it.

I got a Layla some time back, and I like it quite much. The versatility is the best part. Being able to flip the mattress and enjoy a firm and soft side. The memory foam responds quicker than I've seen in reviews. They mentioned slow recovery, but mine was super fast and has been that way for a long time. Besides, it's suitable for summer, with a cooling effect, and I feel its crisp and clean vibes.
Side note, the pillows you get with the Layla are much better. I recommend the mattress and the pillows too. It is good that they are throwing in those with the mattress.

How to Choose the Right Mattress
With thousands of mattress options available, cutting through the noise requires focusing on what actually matters for your sleep quality and budget.
The Three Things That Matter Most
- Support and alignment. Your mattress should keep your spine in a neutral position regardless of sleep position. If you wake up with aches or stiffness, your mattress is failing at its primary job.
- Temperature regulation. Sleeping hot disrupts deep sleep cycles. Innerspring and hybrid mattresses with coil systems promote airflow far better than all-foam designs.
- Purchase protection. A generous trial period (100+ nights), strong warranty, and hassle-free returns protect you from an expensive mistake. Never buy a mattress you cannot return.
A Strong Benchmark
The Saatva Classic ($1,779 Queen) scores well on all three factors: coil-on-coil construction for support and airflow, a 365-night home trial for risk-free evaluation, and a lifetime warranty for long-term protection. Free white-glove delivery and old mattress removal are included with every order.
Does Layla Have Fiberglass? Safety Assessment
Flippable mattress brand with copper-infused memory foam ($999-$1,899 Queen).
Fiberglass Status
No fiberglass. Layla does NOT use fiberglass. They use a non-fiberglass flame barrier.
Why This Matters
Layla is one of the brands that has taken the safer route by NOT using fiberglass as a fire barrier. This eliminates the contamination risk that has affected many budget mattress brands. Always verify on the specific model you are purchasing, as lineups can change.
