Mattress Queen – Signature Sleep Memory Foam

Mattress Twin and Queen from Signature Sleep
Another high tier mattress developed by Signature Sleep. It’s a little bit softer than the Zinus above. They seem to add a lot of support foam instead of building features like the pressure relief foam that Zinus has…but many buyers still love their mattresses. Here are the features and benefits:

Feature Benefit
Memory Foam Layer Softness, weight distribution, pressure relief.
High Density Base Layer Support foam that provides firmness.
CertiPUR-US Foam Their memory foam layer is “environmentally friendly” with low VOCs, PBDEs, TDCPP, TCEP, Mercury, etc. Most of the higher end manufacturers have these so I’m not impressed.
Knit fabric cover Thin “breathable” cover. Easy to clean.
  • Base, 6 in. thick mattress: Has a 1 inch memory foam top and 5 inches of support foam underneath.
  • Thicker, 8 in. thick mattress: Has a 2 inch memory foam top and 6 inches of base support foam underneath.
  • Mid-tier, 10 in. thick mattress: Has a 2 inch memory foam top and 8 inches of support foam underneath. Not much better than the 8 in. thick mattress.
  • Top tier, 12 in. thick mattress: Has a 4 inch memory foam top and 8 inches of support foam underneath. Highest amount of memory foam…which is the most expensive component.

Mattress Twin – Signature Sleep Contour (Also available in other sizes such as Mattress Queen)

Mattress Queen from Signature Sleep. Also available as twin and full.

A mid-high tier mattress developed by Signature Sleep. This mattress, queen size, comes with 800 springs encased between two layers of memory foam (one on the top and one at the bottom). This mattress tends to be firmer because the core of the mattress isn’t foam based. It may also be challenging for side-sleepers. Coming in at approx $194, it’s meant for a budget conscious consumer. Here are the features and benefits:

Feature Benefit
Independently encased coil springs Having springs + memory foam makes this mattress firmer. Some very high end posturepedic mattresses also have similar “hybrid” setups.
Memory Foam Layer Softness, weight distribution, pressure relief.
CertiPUR-US Foam Their memory foam layer is “environmentally friendly” with low VOCs, PBDEs, TDCPP, TCEP, Mercury, etc. Most of the higher end manufacturers have these so I’m not impressed.
Reversible You can flip this mattress over to wear it more evenly and make it last longer. Not sure how many of you would actually do that though! Seems like a lot of effort.

This is an mid-level independently encased coil spring mattress available in multiple sizes. Available sizes include:

    • 8″ Thick Mattress

: 1.6″ high density memory foam along with a 7″ spring mattress. Yes, that does not add up to 8″…

    • 10″ Thick Mattress

: Not visible on the signature sleep website. Amazon states this version also has 1.6″ high density memory foam + 7″ coiled spring. What about the rest of the mattress? Very little information is available.

Zinus Sleep Master Ultima – Mattress Twin (Also available in other sizes such as Mattress Queen)

Memory Foam Mattress Queen made by Zinus - Ultima
An inexpensive mid-range mattress by Zinus, the Sleep Master Ultima Mattress, Queen or Twin size, suffers from quality issues but offers the same features as the highly rated Zinus Memoir. Here are the features and benefits:

Feature Benefit

Pressure Relieving Comfort Foam Sleep on your side with support for your spine
Airflow Foam Great for warm sleepers. Allows you to cool down at night. Only available on the high end “Grand Mattress”

Besides the “Green Tea”, I don’t see much of a difference between this and the Zinus above. Online, Zinus seems to state that the Great tea helps fight odor and bacteria. I’d love to see some data, but for us normal people, this is a great bed! Here, options include:

  • Base, 6 in. thick mattress: Has a 1.5 inch memory foam top and 4.5 inches of base support foam underneath.
  • Thicker, 8 in. thick mattress: Has a 2 inch memory foam top, 2 inch pressure relieving comfort foam in the middle, and 4 inches of base support foam underneath.

Summary and Concluding thoughts – Mattress twin and mattress queen

The Zinus Green Tea is an incredible mattress. I typically have a hard time sleeping and on this thing I’m knocked out as soon as I dose off. Along with the mattress, I also purchased the “smart base”. It doesn’t look very fancy, but it’s super easy to put together and light enough to move around without a problem. I found that 2 people squeeze together on a zinus mattress queen – size, so I would suggest that you go for the cal king or king sizes for extra space. I have considered getting another memory foam mattress and cutting it so I can add some more to my queen bed.

The Tuft and Needle mattress is a close second. The T&N Mattress, twin size, has the same thickness as the other sizes of mattress queen – sized and above, so it makes choosing a mattress simple. Additionally, their customer service is incredible. I’ve always been connected quickly when I have questions about warranty, taking care of the mattress, etc. and so have other customers who’ve bought this mattress. Unfortunately, long term, the mattress doesn’t always survive. You can see quite a few reviews on Amazon that describe the sinking down in the middle and it being too firm for a side sleeper (over time…which is weird). Additionally customer service suffers if you don’t buy it directly from their website.

In conclusion, buy the Zinus Green Tea, be happy 🙂 Here’s some more information about the Zinus Green Tea.
